POP UP YOGA STUDIO collaborated with The
Centre and a number of local businesses to offer public classes throughout the day
in some unusual settings around the neighbourhood. Read on for a description of the classes, and keep in touch - we would definitely like to hold more pop up yoga classes like these in the future!
The day starts in the back garden of Twenty & Six Espresso on
Queensberry Street with an early morning class set amongst red bricks, cobblestones,
lush flowerbeds and creeping vines. Wake up your senses with an energizing yoga
practice in the dappled morning light – and then follow it up with one of the
delicious breakfast options in the cafe afterwards!
If weekends mean sleep-ins, the late morning class at Electron Workshop on
Arden Street might be more tempting. Let the high ceilings, exposed beams, and
polished concrete floor of the beautifully renovated warehouse - that functions
as a shared office workspace during the week - inspire and relax you while
moving through a flowing yoga practice.
Bring the kids to yoga in the park at Eades Place Reserve, the triangular pocket
of greenery and play equipment between Chetwynd and King Streets in West
Melbourne. This 45 minute session for little yogis (5-7 year olds, or
thereabouts) will incorporate stories, games and poses in a supportive,
playful, and fun environment - providing a refreshing breather for parents and
children from the festivities on Errol Street.
The day ends at POP UP YOGA STUDIO with an
afternoon class to mark the opening of the spring/summer residency in a
previously vacant building on Victoria Street.
We have taken
over the downstairs shopfront until the owners finalise their renovations plans
and now run a number of weekly classes from the space.
